Matthew Skouras has been the recording engineer for the John J. Cali School of Music since 2012, where he manages the recording studio, trains student recording assistants, maintains the instructional technologies for the classrooms, and handles stage managing, lighting, and sound duties during faculty and student recitals. He has also worked as a freelance recording engineer for audition/screening, live concerts, and session recordings since 2008. Matt also serves as a scheduling and technology consultant for the NJMEA state conference and in 2013 started working with the Bergenfield High School Marching Band.
Raised in Flanders, a small suburb in northern New Jersey, he had an interest in music from an early age - starting at piano and then trading that experience for clarinet and finally making trumpet his primary in high school. While at Mount Olive High School Matt immersed himself in every musical offering. He went on to graduate with honors from the John J. Cali School of Music, Montclair State University, where he majored in Music Education. A life-long tinkerer and technology enthusiast, he does some programming in the Google Apps Script and Max/MSP/Jitter environments. Matt is affiliated with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, NAfME, and TI:ME.
